- Process all returned mail. Duties include, obtaining updated address from post office, bad address check with the hospital or electronically checking online.
- Review approximately 1000 cycle bills to ensure that insurance has paid correctly on the accounts that have cycled every week. Follow up with insurance company regarding non-payment of claims. Generate and review first bills on new charges twice weekly. Demand bills and monthly cycle bills with open balances every Friday and time payment bills monthly.
- Forward delinquent accounts monthly to Collection Agency via email. Review New Accounts Acknowledgment Report from Collection Agency for correctness.
- Identify deceased patients by cross-checking with periodicals such as Probate Reporter, Attorney Notification and Data Entry. Record Statement of Claim with the Clerk of the Circuit Court for patients with outstanding balances.
- Process all checks received for deposit including preparation of a totaled Excel spreadsheet, bank deposit slip and convey to the bank. Post private pay and insurance payments.
- Answer phone- includes fielding bilingual calls, resolving patient inquiries, scheduling time payments and accepting credit card payments.
- Obtain daily reports from the hospital and diagnostic center for use in medical accounting.
- Submit electronic claims through an electronic clearing house twice weekly. Generate Acknowledge and Verification reports to confirm that all claims passed edits and review. Distribute all rejections and edits on insurance carrier reports to data entry department for corrections and resubmission.
- Generate all paper claims for primary and secondary insurance. Ensure all paper claims have required signatures, disclaimers, reports and EOBs attached per insurance type specific requirements. Organize and file both, alphabetically and chronologically, completed paper insurance claims and correspondence.
